Introducing the Shipium Analytics Suite
When we launched Carrier Selection as our first product in 2021, our goal was to give modern operators more control over their shipping operations. Since then, Carrier Selection has released hundreds of features to customers and given them power over their shipping decisions the industry has never seen before.
Along the way, the Shipium Console — the core platform component that powers self-service configuration and management of carriers, contracts, networks, business rules, and more — launched essential reporting features that gave customers insights into the basics of their Shipium performance.
Increasingly, a critical piece of optimizing shipping operations is getting several layers deeper on shipping analytics.
To achieve this over the years, we supported customers gaining deeper analysis by providing data export services that paired with their Business Intelligence tools. But we never felt like it gave customers the full picture on their shipping operations, as the unique and differentiated datasets across products and and the platform are a challenge to package for other BI tools.
That's why today we're introducing the Shipium Analytics Suite, the first full-feature analysis solution for existing platform customers.
Adding new insights to your shipping operations
Modern operators care about the performance of their networks to degrees few other teams can match. The reason is simple: Operations is the heartbeat of a business, and there is zero tolerance for under performance.
Shipping operations has emerged as an essential part of modern operations because of the increased complexity in delivery networks. Shipping has never been harder to manage as 1990's era software struggles to keep up with 2020's era demands.
Compounding the pressure is the impact of shipping results on both the bottom and top lines of the balance sheet. Shipping cost is typically the highest operating expense on the P&L, while delivery speed and accuracy is typically a top growth lever for customer purchases. Very few parts of the supply chain have a bigger imperative to get a handle on than shipping.
Shipium's platform has helped customers achieve incredible success amid increased complexity. Just this week we recapped our 2024 numbers:
- 12.1% cost reduction average across all customers
- 99.1% OTD against carrier SLAs
- 97.4% OTD against customer desired delivery dates using our ML models
- Of the 30% of Peak Season shipments delivered in 4 days or less, 80% were delivered using a cheaper Ground or Economy method
- Meanwhile, we helped companies deal with volatility like carrier strikes, inclement weather, abrubt carrier service shutdowns, and government changes like Section 321 falling a part.
The next level of control is now giving customers deeper analysis to understand exactly how Shipium's platform is helping them realize these results in their unique network.
They need more insights, and Shipium Analytics gives them that.
Differentiated datasets and models
The first thing customers will realize is the power of the platform's datasets. We give customers insights into performance they can't easily export elsewhere.
One example is carrier selections. We not only provide analysis on what was selected, but what wasn't selected and why. With this new analysis, customers can gain greater insight to why certain carriers are not getting selected for shipments they were expected to be awarded.
But the example customers are most excited about is insights on transit modeling. We provide customers details on the performance of our dynamic time-in-transit models so they can report on results, and gain the internal confidence that adoption of progressive AI+ML is benefiting the business.
Powerful out-of-the-box reports bring together all your data
Adoption of Shipium Analytics is through our collection of base reports. Customers get access to cost analyses, rate shop metrics, and labels without requiring any custom set up. The most important reports customers ask for the most are immediately available, and the team is constantly adding new base reports.
With powerful custom reports, too
Meanwhile, our services team is available to partner with customers to customize and make new reports based on your unique needs. They can help you understand the unique datasets available and how to shape them to the type of analytics you want for your business.
One platform for execution and analysis
Dashboards, reports, and analytics aren't new to the shipping industry. Excellent operators have had their go-to metrics set up since before you or I were born.
What is rare is when the same system is providing both analytical insight and conducting the execution of those insights.
When we built the Shipium platform, we were surprised at how siloed the shipping industry could still be. As CEO Jason Murray says in a recent Shipium Way video, dashboard and reports are built for the end user in mind, but never connect back to the systems that actually make the decisions. As a result, it's hard for any operator to know if their analysis is being enacted in real life.
Perhaps the greatest benefit of the Shipium platform is the end-to-end system customers can trust. Customers can configure and control their shipping operations, which then executes to those configurations, and, now with Shipium Analytics, can see the results. It's a magnificent feedback loop finally available to innovators like you.
